Managed Internship with Web Services January - April 2009

In my second year of college I was given the opportunity to work with the Web Services team at Lethbridge College for four months to complete a managed internship. My responsibilities consisted of working with clients (various college staff and faculty), editing and updating specific college pages, creating an e-Newsletter template for Human Resources, customizing ListServ 1.5 with the use of CSS files and template files, editing, compressing, and uploading video footage to the website, designing a feature ad for the homepage; updating the forms site. One of the major tasks I was assigned involved customizing and editing the Applicant Tracking System for Human Resources.

Since I have graduated from college, I spend time in my home doing freelance web and print design. I brainstorm, collaborate ideas, and develop designs from client specifications. I create Photoshop mockups based on the ideas that client's share with me, and then give them a selection of different designs that they can choose from. I designed a brand new visual identity for Jet Seed Processing Ltd., a family operated portable seed cleaning business in Saskatchewan. I develop custom, unique designs to suit each individual client and their business. I produce final designs: publish live websites, print designs/documents, and send designs to printing companies. It is very important that I communicate with my clients on a regular basis to meet their goals via email, telephone, and scheduled meetings

I was approached by Val in April of 2009 to create a simple website that highlights her Main Anjou cattle. Val is well known in the cattle community for her quality maines and with the launch of her website, she has received interested buyers from across the prairie provinces and even the United States! Bulls for Sale is a very important aspect of the site as it showcases bulls for potential buyers; the Winners section confirms that Style Maines produces top of the line Maine Anjou cattle.

Larry pursued his dream of owning and operating his own business in 2010. It became apparent to him that a website would inform motorists in the Regina area about the Great Canadian Oil Change franchises in the city. A simple site with all of the necessary location and contact information does the trick for Larry and his team. On August 20, 2010 GCOC Regina had their Grand Opening Celebration. I created a poster for this event that was published in the Leader Post - Regina newspaper and posted on buses across the city. The Great Canadian Oil Change on Rochdale had an extremely successful grand opening, achieving the biggest car count during a grand opening in Canada!
